GHRH analogues

GHRH analogues groups 3 indexed compounds. Also written as growth hormone releasing factor analogues, GRF analogues, GHRH 1-29 analogues.

Definition

GHRH analogues are peptides modelled on growth hormone releasing hormone, which act at the GHRH receptor on the anterior pituitary. A 2005 Endocrinology paper reports that human growth hormone releasing factor 1-29 albumin bioconjugates activate the GRF receptor, and a 1985 Endocrinology paper examines the structural requirements for activation of rat anterior pituitary adenylate cyclase by growth hormone releasing factor.

Class-level mechanism as reported

The class acts upstream of growth hormone release at the GHRH receptor, which distinguishes it from the growth hormone secretagogues that act at the ghrelin receptor. The retrieved literature on this class is largely concerned with how modification extends duration of action: a 2006 Journal of Clinical Endocrinology and Metabolism paper reports prolonged stimulation of growth hormone and IGF-I secretion by CJC-1295.
